CHASKA, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 2005--The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) and Minnesota Technology, Inc., in partnership with Medical Alley/MNBIO selected Entegris, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTG), last week as a finalist for a 2005 Tekne Award. Entegris earned the honor in the advanced manufacturing company category, along with another Twin Cities-based technology leader, 3M. This is the sixth annual Tekne awards competition for outstanding achievement in high technology. Entegris is the global leader in materials integrity management for semiconductor and other high tech industries.

"Earning this finalist nomination recognizes the pioneering spirit, innovation and excellence our company has demonstrated in the global high tech markets we serve, and the timing is even more meaningful as we move the new Entegris forward through our recent merger with Mykrolis," said John Goodman, Entegris senior vice president and chief technology and innovation officer. "Entegris is proud to be tapped as a finalist in this very competitive arena with such distinguished companies as Ecolab, Cargill, Honeywell, NorthStar Aerospace and 3M."

MHTA bestows the awards to companies and individuals for the "best and brightest" in innovation, development, education, commercialization and management of technology in Minnesota. Many of the finalists, like Entegris, have an international reach. "The Tekne Awards have come to represent a collection of preeminent technology companies that are industry leaders in not just Minnesota, but around the globe," said Kate Rubin, president of MHTA. "Once again, this year's finalists prove that Minnesota is an ever-increasing hub for technology innovation."

Goodman adds that the award nomination illustrates that other high tech industry colleagues and leaders recognize and respect the company's success and growth "that we nurture through our market leadership, the competitive edge we bring to customers worldwide, and our passion for innovation." Entegris serves high tech industries across North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. The company's advanced technological expertise has enabled it to develop an intellectual property portfolio that includes 352 U.S. patents and 675 international patents. That's the kind of track record Tekne award officials take special note of.

"To survive in today's economy, companies must be technologically agile and progressive. These 2005 Tekne finalists provide exceptional models for using technology to reinvent and grow their business," said Wayne A. Pletcher, PhD, president and CEO of Minnesota Technology, Inc.

The 2005 Tekne Awards will be presented on Thursday, November 10, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
