Entegris Expansion In Asia Pacific Vital To Future Growth Strategy; Malaysian Project: Lowers Manufacturing Costs, Closer Customer Proximity In The Region

CHASKA, Minn. & MINNEAPOLIS, Mar 21, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Entegris, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTG) announced today that the company will increase its manufacturing capacity in Asia Pacific by expanding its manufacturing facility in Kulim, Malaysia. Construction of the 91,000 square-foot addition -- that will house both research and development and manufacturing activity -- began last month and is expected to be completed by September. Entegris has now bolstered both its manufacturing and engineering/product design capacity in the region this year. The company is the global market leader in providing technology, products and services that purify, protect and transport critical materials used primarily for the semiconductor and microelectronics industries.

"The Malaysian project is fundamental to Entegris' global growth strategy, particularly in a region of the world that produces fifty-five percent of our overall revenues. We expect increased demand in Japan and Asia Pacific for our products and services in the future," said Gideon Argov, Entegris president and chief executive officer. "It boils down to two positive results -- lowering manufacturing costs, and improving service by being close to customers wherever they may be in the world." He added that this is a key step in the company's comprehensive global manufacturing strategy to optimize operating and supply chain efficiencies.

Argov also noted that the project secures additional economic benefits in terms of a tax holiday on products manufactured at the facility and matching research and development grants provided by the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority.

Entegris built its existing Kulim plant in 1997. Research and manufacturing here focuses on the company's wafer handling, liquid dispense and finished electronics packaging (data storage, flat panel displays) products. This expansion project follows the company's opening of a new regional service center in Hsinchu, Taiwan in September 2005.

The company is participating in the SEMICON China trade show this week in Shanghai, China.
